🪷 About Me

Hi, I’m Virginia 👋

I started Nana’s Friends after stepping away from a fast-paced corporate career and realizing I wanted a life with more comfort, connection, and meaningful time with animals. Caring for pets has always been the most grounding and joyful part of my life, so I decided to build more of my work around it.

Now, I offer a quiet home where pets can settle in, follow their routines, and go at their own pace. I work from home most of the week, so animals here aren’t waiting alone or being shuffled through a crowd — they get steady company, slow mornings, naps in sunny spots, and gentle walks throughout the day.

When I’m not caring for pets, I am coaching, teaching yoga, and practicing massage therapy.

🌿 How I Care

I specialize in pets who feel best when the world slows down a little:

  • senior dogs

  • shy or anxious pets

  • newly adopted animals

  • pets who need medication, structure, or patience

My approach is simple: pay attention, go slow, and respect what helps each animal feel safe. Some pets want play and engagement. Some need space and quiet. I notice the difference and adjust to them, not the other way around.

💛 Mission & Values

Accessibility | I offer sliding scale considerations for families who need it. Loving care shouldn’t be out of reach.

Compassion | Animals communicate through behavior, not words. I listen to what they’re telling me, and I never rush them. I use calm, gentle, and fear-free techniques.

🐕🐕🐈 The Residents of Nana’s Friends

I share my home with three rescue pets who shape the heart of this work:

🐱 Gremlin – 7 | A fluffy, allergy-prone sweetheart who requires daily meds, injections, and a special diet. He loves deeply and expects his chin scratches on time.

🐕 Thor – 14 | A sensitive chihuahua with separation anxiety and a big heart. He enjoys short walks, schedule consistency, warm blankets, and massages for his stiff legs.

🐕 Nana – 12 | A bold chihuahua who is living with Cushing’s disease. She needs precise medication, frequent potty breaks, and more treats than anyone else (she insists).

Living with pets who need routine, medication, slow introductions, and extra patience isn’t a burden — it’s a normal part of our daily routines here!

🐾 A Home for Pets Who Need a Softer Space

If your pet does best with a slower pace, a familiar rhythm, and someone who takes time to understand who they are, they’ll feel safe at Nana’s Friends. Everyone gets to settle in, take their time, and be themselves.
